If by 'tough' you mean they did not deserve to win then yes. For several weeks the Leafs have been playing this way. Getting outplayed and relying of strong goal tending. Not a recipe for success... yet they have been winning.

They need to stop this poop where they get ahead by a goal and try to be the 90's devils, falling back into a defensive shell. This team is built on offense and speed. Keep it rolling and attack...

The Leafs deserved nothing out of last night's game. Too many passengers. Had it not been for Freddie, the game would have been over at the 30 minute mark.

I think the last really strong game the team has played was against Calgary in Calgary.
Other than that they have been lucky to win. Babcock will hopefully get them playing the right way soon.

I thought they played better last night...the 1st 2 periods they may have been outshot but we had the better chances...IMO the game changed when Andersen tried to do too much with the puck on the 2nd goal and bad positioning on the 3rd goal.....and we miss Matthews.

I agree but I also think that Andersen had little to do with the fact that the Flyers were allowed to ride the perimeter merry-go-round for pretty much the entirety of the 2nd and 3rd periods.

Good morning leafy leafers!

Its good we have Marleau and JVR to keep the offense going, hopefully one of the kids will start to get hot again.

I know they didn't play great...but I don't like the fact Andersen has outlets with the puck and then bangs it up the middle off a body and the merry-go-round started again with the puck ending up in our net. Stop the puck...make quick little passes, he doesn't need to do big things with the puck...just my 2 cents on the ending of that game...we should have won it.

I think the defenders have played quite well. It's the guys guys you would of thought would be carrying the team that have been okay offensively but more importantly poor defensively. Marner, Nylander,Brown(the past 10 or so games anyway,he was fantastic earlier). They have to step up big time.

This.

The Leafs have been outplayed in the past number of weeks. Not only that, their vaunted speed advantage has not been as apparent this season as it was last year. Oh sure, there are flashes of phenom skating and finesse but it's been egregiously inconsistent.

The only consistency this team has had over this stretch is being steadily out-shot and out-hustled. It's been frustrating as (frank) to watch. Most of the wins we've managed recently feel like we stole 2 points rather than earned them.

Having said that, the sky isn't falling and I'm not jumping off the bandwagon any time soon (read: ever), but geez this team needs to turn things around before things get really ugly. Here's hoping that Matthews gets through his funk (concussion?) and finds his early season form because if that doesn't happen it's going to be a tough ride to the playoffs, which are anything but guaranteed at this point.

Lastly, can someone work on Andersen's glove hand? How many times is he beaten by a top shelf shot on that side? Ugh!

Tell me about this kid Dahlin - is that who we should target with our lottery pick?

Season is over, boys.

Over.

I know Komarov is primarily a checker, but we need to get a bit more out of him offensively for sure.

Dude, would you not agree that the team is in a funk where they've been consistently outplayed?

Just because there's criticism doesn't mean people are having a panic attack and want to burn down MLSE.

It baffles me how fans don't bother to look further than the numbers.

If you don't count the games that Andersen stole, we would be out of a playoff spot.

There's been a few games where Kadri has played way above his normal level - those games shouldn't really count in the win column.

There's been at least a couple of games where the other team hit a post late in the game - a true hockey fan knows that those games should really be considered losses.

And the Leafs have a 6-1 record this year in extra time - so you may as well subtract about 5 points from their record.

Basically, the 41 points they have in 32 games is a mirage.

You know when you see a mirage? When you are wandering lost in the desert, about to die.

Enjoy your sushi, Loafs fans.
